Artist Biography
Mongami Marala is a passionate and dedicated creative whose love for painting portraits and drawing has been a lifelong journey. With a keen eye for detail and an ability to capture the essence of his subjects, Mongami has developed a unique style that resonates deeply with those who view his work.
Growing up with a natural inclination towards the arts, Mongami pursued formal studies in Fine Arts at University. However, despite his passion and commitment, financial constraints led to him leaving the Bachelor of Fine Arts programme before completion. This experience, while challenging, never diminished his love for creating, and Mongami has continued to evolve independently as an artist. More than ten years ago, Mongami had the opportunity to showcase and sell his work at the National Art Festival, a significant milestone in his creative career. This experience not only gave him the platform to reach new audiences but also validated his skills as a professional artist.
Portraits remain at the core of Mongami’s creative work, with each piece reflecting a deep connection to the subject. Looking ahead, Mongami continues to explore new projects, with the goal of expanding his presence in both local and national art spaces.
