About the Artists
Lefa Mosea is a renowned South African saxophonist, composer, and music tutor. Born in Vaal, he moved to Gqeberha where he studied music theory at the Vusi Mahlasela Foundation and saxophone at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
A versatile musician, Lefa has performed with various bands, including Take Note, and collaborated with notable artists such as Mobi Dixon, Msaki, and Ambitiouz Entertainment. His debut single Mabele (2017) marked the beginning of his solo career.
Lefa's music blends jazz, Afro-pop, and traditional sounds, reflecting his rich cultural heritage. Lefa Mosea was invited to the international music showcase in Durban at The Music Imbizo representing Gqeberha. Lefa Mosea was one of the nominees for Eastern Cape Department of Sport & Culture: Music Individual 2022.
With nominations for three Mzansi Jazz Awards, Lefa Mosea continues to inspire audiences with his soulful saxophone melodies. He was recently profiled on SABC 2 in a one hour TV special : The Light, talking about his personal journey as an Eastern Cape based musician and its challenges. Lefa Mosea’s debut album :Double Standards is available on all digital platforms.
