About the Artists
Sibu G, formally known as Sibulele Bokwana, is a rising star in the genre of world music. Born and raised in KwaZakhele, Gqeberha, Sibu G discovered a passion for music at a young age, and has since honed his craft and developed a unique sound that blends traditional South African influences with contemporary elements. Sibu G's music is soulful, powerful, and inspiring, and his performances are unforgettable experiences. In 2020 he joined a group called SAYO where he was the guitarist, lead vocalist and songwriter of the group. Sibu G's passion for music drives his pursuit for a career in the music industry, as he is determined to make a name for himself.
Despite the challenges he faces, he never gives up on his dream. In 2021, he was accepted into the eKhaya Sessions Artist Development Programme, which helped him hone his skills and refine his sound. It was here that he decided to go solo and launch his career as a solo artist. This was a bold move, and that paid off when he released his first single, "Ndinovuyo," in 2022. He also won 2nd place in the Music Category of the Eastern Cape Community Arts Youth Festival held in Umtata, 2022. Sibu G continues to hone his craft, exploring new directions and pushing the boundaries of his art. His recent production was featured on Ukutshona Kwelanga Series, and he also performed at the Richmond Hill Street Music Festival(2023).
