In this show, Edgar Muzah's musical virtuosity is blended with a multidimensional world of vibrant characters, exploring themes of love, resilience, identity, and the triumphs and tribulations of humanity and spoken word poetry. All elements converge into a unifying ensemble, symbolising the gathering of tribes from different cultural backgrounds, reaching a crescendo in a grand finale. About the Artists
Edgar Muzah is a musician, bass player, music composer, arranger, songwriter and music producer based in South Africa. With a unique and very distinct sound that is easily traced to his African origins, Muzah has mastered the sound of his music which he calls Music Of The World (World Music). He has perfectly infused musical rhythms and sounds from around Africa and the world at large to create his own sound, inspired by some of the greats that have walked the road before him..
With the recent release of his debut solo album Son Of A Tribe, Muzah is getting the attention of many world music and world jazz lovers globally. Son of A Tribe went on to land two nominations from the South African Music Awards (SAMA) and Afrikan Music Magazine Awards (Afrimma) in 2022. Edgar has worked with SA’s finest; Ringo Madlingozi, Phila Madlingozi, Nathi Mankayi, Amanda Black, Blaq Diamond, Nomcebo Zikode, Ami Faku, Bye Beneco, Willis Wataffi Afirika, MXO, Sliq Angel, ROOTS 2000, Ntsika Ngxanga, Putuma Tiso to name a few. His collaborative and diverse history has given birth to Edgar Muzah & Friends, a project that brings together most of the artists he has worked with, produced music for, composed and wrote music for. Together they won the ESP Afrika Young Legends Competition in 2018, leading him to perform at the 20th Cape Town International Jazz Festival in march 2019.
Muzah is signed to Gallo Music Publishing and has a distribution deal for his music with the biggest digital music distribution aggregator in Africa - Content Connect Africa. As part of the collaborations with international agencies, Edgar got to perform at Amandla Music for Tolerance, Respect and Peace as well as Fest Der Kulturen in Osnabrück, Germany.
